One point which I feel should be appended to this insightful analysis is the fragility of the (absolutely crucial) American military and financial support for Ukraine, particularly after the next presidential election in 2024. The Republicans and especially their likely presidential candidate Trump seem intent on pulling the plug on Ukraine’s life support, thereby handing an immanent total victory to the Russians. The Republican wing of the American ruling class prefers a strategy of concentrating all resources against China, rather than to pursue the sequential campaign of the Democrats which would first eliminate Russia as a strategic competitor. And the chances that Trump is reelected are not small. Recent polls have also indicated that the general American public has become more parsimonious with respect to Ukraine, so that a future Republic president would have general support for this policy (if that matters anymore in American politics). I speculate that the anticipation of this loss of support is one the main impetus for Zelensky’s current suicidal aggression through the counter-offensive, i.e. 2024 could be perceived as an existential deadline for the Ukrainian war effort. In particular, I am skeptical about your claim that time is not on the side of the Russians politically.

If seems somewhat counterintuitive to consider building an alternative ( ? progressive) economic framework with a semi-fascist opportunist like Modi.

It is actually the obvious opportunism of Modi that I think would make him a totally unreliable partner in such an undertaking.
