But you omitted the fact that “only if Russia accepts it”, surely central to the alleged offer, an offer Trump knew the Russians would never accept. Trump has no intention of ‘doing a deal’ with Russia and never did. The US and the EUUK intend to keep this war going either, until the Ukraine runs out of soldiers or, it bankrupts Russia and the latter is unlikely, given that Russia has, as you say, taken on the combined weapons production of 35 Western countries and trashed them!

A good article Brian, it kinda lays it all out. This really is a ‘do or die’ moment for the human race, if not the planet but life will endure, just without us. Let’s hope sanity prevails, though frankly, I’m not optimistic, the pirates will only let go when they are destroyed, there’s just too much at stake, a world to win or lose.

I think there are two, distinct issues here, one is political-strategic and the other is economic. The US needs the EU for strategic reasons but views it as an economic competitor. Typically, Trump’s hubris and ugly stupidity, can’t compute the difference. And, given how the EU elite have behaved like the good vassals that they are, who is to gainsay Trump on this? After all, they’ve sacrificed their populations and their economies on the hope that Russia will be vanquished. Whoops!

there is no question of china and US fighting each other ,in my opinion as both sides have nukes. china is in a good position due to the seas separating US allies from it unlike USSR.
ofcourse cold war is the preferred US (NATO/EU)strategy and it is already doing what it can.
There is no divison of labour beween US and EU.If EU develops military ,it can target china also & it would.
