WHAT’S SO IMPORTANT ABOUT WOMEN BEING HUNTERS IN PRE-HISTORIC TIMES?

When I wrote this article originally I wanted it to be a historical analysis establishing why evolution, because of seasonal climatic variation, had to split mammalian species into two distinct sexes in order to regulate reproduction. I did not want to get the article tangled up with the controversy over gender (trans) issues. However, the recent Appeal Court judgement in Britain on the biological description of gender has made a few words necessary.

There is controversy over the ratios of trans-women to trans-men with some estimates putting the ratio as high as 4:1 in favour of trans-women while others such as this later study puts the ratio as roughly even. Some studies have sought to correlate these dispositions to genetic factors. For example: “A variant genotype for a gene called CYP17, which acts on the sex hormones pregnenolone and progesterone, has been found to be linked to female-to-male transsexuality but not MtF transsexuality.”  However, there are other associative factors. If the ratio of trans-women is indeed above 3:1 then it implies sociological and cultural factors in play as well. For example, women are the beautiful sex while men are the plain sex, and furthermore, women are more emotionally emancipated then men. Both are attractive advantages. On the male’s side, patriarchy would exert an influence in the opposite direction as is seen in racial discrimination, where the discriminated attempt to adopt the appearances of their oppressors.

I do not believe these are the important issues when discussing the politics of the controversy. It’s how we understand the world which is the more important issue. Those religiously influenced believe in a perfect god who does not make mistakes. Thus there are only men and women. But we do not live in a perfect world thank god. Otherwise none of us would be here today because even the slightest disturbance to a perfect world and perfect body would be fatal to both as we would be biologically defenseless and without resilience which needs to be built up through adversity. But nature is not perfect and there are variations or exceptions. And this is true of the sexual division as well. Which is why we need to be tolerant and offer acceptance when this happens, and possibly happens to the degree as yet to be recognised, especially in a world which capitalism is polluting with Xeno-hormones.
