Hi Brian, more than just congratulations for your work in organizing these demonstrations…

…If I understand you correctly, your understanding of the nature of US global, military aggressions and its threats against China is ambiguous and implicitly wrong.

The historial forces determining US/NATO’s aggressions go 400 years deeper into history than WW2, which made the US the hegemonic center of an already economic and morally degenerate Western imperialism. War had become capitalism’s only “solution” by the late 19th century…

You’ve claimed (with some ambiguity) in other essays that you believe China is essentially “capitalist”. And there is some ambiguity here in your view that 300+miltary base encircled China (which might have one or two commercially oriented bases) is “imperialist”. For me these ambiguities undermine the clarity of this essay, as well as the purpose of these wonderfully enlightening and encouraging demonstrations.

    • How so? Trump then Biden’s attempt to crush China’s economic champion, Huawei, was an act of war, as were the broader embargoes It has no precedent. I have always stated categorically, China is capitalist. There are many Christian Sects but they all worship Jesus just as the CCP worships the profit motive and the market. The fact is that the CCP administers capitalism and if it does so in a manner minimizing its excesses, this is done in order to prevent any political fall-out which could shatter its brittle rule. The CCP and the capitalist class have a devil’s pact from which both benefit. The capitalists know full well that the restrictions placed on them by the CCP is nothing compared to the pressure they would face from 800 million Chinese workers given a degree of political freedom. The iron rule of the CCP ensured that until recently, China was the most profitable area of investment globally for the multi-nationals.

What a march, it took us two and a half hours to shuffle 800 metres because so many people were feeding into the march.

I refer to Robert’s most recent blog for a strong refutation of China’s imputed “capitalism”… and I also refer to your own description of China’s defensive stance against the US 300+ military bases surrounding it as sufficient proof of who is the imperialist and who is not…

I do agree that China’s 800 million workers are not as “free” as those living in tents in the US.

      • I watched with interest the numerous pro-palestinian marches in China.
