Articles in the financial press covering Electric Vehicles have appeared with increasing frequency making their development worthy of discussion and criticism. This article shows how chaotic and dysfunctional their market induced birth has been.

Aside from anything else (eg the rape involved of people and the environment in extraction or raw materials), there’s the added nightmare of what to do with the millions of batteries when they expire in few years time. Lethal objects that are already responsible for explosions at sea during transport, no provision has been made for recycling the damn things, nor the cost involved or the additional environmental damage involved. Is capitalism suicidal? It seems so.
There is one interesting development. As long as the battery has more than 60 percent capacity left there is an international second hand market for these batteries. Though they are unfit for cars they are useful for energy storage.
